Presentation of Bell

On the 13th June 2014 the Association was invited to the presentation and dedication of the last ships bell into The Church of Our Lady and Saint Nicolas in Chapel Street Liverpool.

The bell has been mounted in a cradle which was made, fittingly, by the apprentices of Cammell Laird where the last ship was built.

The workmanship is exceptional and the cradle itself allows the bell to be inverted so that it can be used as a font.  The bell was carried into the church be the apprentices on a litter, lead by Royal Marine drummers and then hung on the cradle.

Along with the ships bell, the Ensigns for the Royal Navy, Merchant Navy and RFA Fleet that hang in the Lady Chapel.  In the church garden is the Arctic Convoy Memorial.

Anyone visiting Liverpool should put the church on their places to visit list.
